The Spark
In 2008, in my hometown of Salzburg, Austria, my journey with repair management began while working in my brother’s mobile phone sales and repair shop. Every day brought new challenges managing inventory, meeting customer expectations, and staying organized.
My brother, a visionary businessman, had ambitious plans to expand our family business across multiple locations. But each new shop came with its set of struggles. Coordinating repairs, managing teams, and ensuring quality service for every customer. His motto was simple yet powerful: “Our product is service.”
This guiding principle shaped our approach and set a high standard for everything we did.
Through long days and late nights, I realized that while we had the skills to repair devices, we lacked the right tools to efficiently manage a growing business. I was deeply committed to our promise to our customers, regardless of what it took. These experiences inspired me to create a solution that would allow us to focus on what matters most, delivering exceptional service without stress.
The Journey
Determined to find the right solution, I explored every repair management tool available, but none of them fit. They were all too complex and didn’t meet our needs. Then came a pivotal moment, a call from Mr. Andreas Stremler from the Netherlands, who had developed a simple repair booking system. It wasn’t a complete fit yet, but it inspired us to start building our own.
We invited Andreas to Austria, and from those early brainstorming sessions, the very first version of RepairCMS was born, later named RepairCMS Repair Center Edition.
We built a web-based platform accessible from anywhere, with a step-by-step booking wizard to guide users smoothly through each repair. That booking wizard quickly became the heartbeat of our system, evolving over time and remaining a cornerstone of our workflow. The development process was slow and often challenging as we focused on making every feature intuitive and user-friendly. In 2018, we embarked on a new phase, building RepairCMS Alpha on modern technology, and I dedicated myself to mastering user experience design.
But my journey wasn’t without struggles. When my heart brother fell ill, I was left facing deep emotional difficulties. More than ever, I had to summon the strength to carry on alone, honoring my commitment to support our users despite the challenges. I realized that my vision was more than just creating software, it was about building something beautiful and joyful for people to use every day.
